PETA 25th Anniversary Gala FAQ

On September 10, 2005, in Hollywood, California, as a result of all of his hard work for animals, PETA will be honoring Morrissey with the Linda McCartney Memorial Award at our 25th Anniversary Gala.

A Brief Chronology of Morrissey’s Good Deeds Earning Him PETA’s Honor
1985: The Smiths release their Meat Is Murder song and album.
1985: Morrissey is interviewed by PETA’s Dan Mathews.
2002: Morrissey calls for a boycott of Thailand until the Thai government enacts laws to prohibit the cruel treatment, confinement, and training of elephants and bans the use of elephants for commercial or entertainment purposes.
2002: Morrissey lends his support to PETA and is interviewed a second time by PETA’s Dan Mathews.
2004: Morrissey speaks out against Iams’ cruel tests on cats and dogs.
2005: Morrissey includes PETA’s investigative documentary “Meet Your Meat” on his Who Put the “M” in Manchester? DVD.
